在和心仪的她/他联系上后,等消息回复的夜晚,你是如何度过的呢?

“已经半个小时了,他还没回我,他是不是对我没兴趣?”

“她今天发了个莫名其妙看不懂的朋友圈,是在暗示我什么吗?”

“昨天大家一群人吃火锅的时候,他跟旁边的女生一直打闹,他是不是对她有意思?”

“她刚说去洗澡了,是真的去洗澡了,还是敷衍我的呢?”

......


切到面试后的场景,就变成了:

“面试官说有结果通知我,是不是已经没戏了?”

“我给HR小姐姐发了两封邮件催面试结果,会不会引起她反感啊?”

“我已经发了Thank You Letter两天了,却杳无音讯,是不是被刷了?”

.....


于是,在寂寞的夜冰冷的床,耳机里播放着伤感的情歌,你不由觉得自己是世界上最悲惨的女(男)孩


咳咳咳,其实这些状况真没那么玄乎呐。他没回复你就是去忙工作了,发的朋友圈只是抒发一下情绪,旁边的女生是他表妹但你却不敢开口问他们的关系,洗澡也是真的去洗澡了!知道了背后真相,会不会觉得那个夜里悲伤的不能自已的自己瞬间像个笑话


面对爱情是这样,面对面试,更是。大家都知道,面试后回到家中,应该给面试官写一个Thank-you email,再次提醒对方你对于应聘岗位的兴趣,也算是一个最后机会"推销"自己。加上,留学生英文口语大多比Native Speakers弱,为了弥补面试中口语表达的不足,就更应该重视这个面试后的Thank-You Note。



一个漂亮的Thank-you email,可以使你从众多面试者中突围而出,不仅有利于加强你的面试官对你的认可,甚至还能在面试后起到“扭转局面”的作用,成为你获得Offer的关键因素。对于面试机会表示感恩是非常重要的,记得这个邮件需要以正面的角度去写。


然而,大部分求职者的Thank-You Note都有一个通病:过长或过短,结构和用词落入俗套,内容干瘪,仅仅是直接或间接地重复resume的内容。这样的Thank-you email不如不写,因为它可能产生面试官对你的负面影响,觉得你不专业、不知道轻重,连这么简单的邮件都不懂的写,反而扣分。


一位美国知名企业的招聘官说,每逢招聘季,他们都会收到不少这种“有问题”的Thank-you email或是Thank-you note(手写邮寄),基本上他们不会去读完整篇,纸质的甚至直接丢进废纸篓。


怎样才能写出不会被直接丢进废纸篓的Thank-you email?写Thank-you email并没有固定模版,而要根据你的具体面试情况调整。以下是几个Tips:

重申你的强项、优势


Thank-you email 是一个非常好的机会提醒面试官你的强项和素质是如何跟应聘岗位和公司的招募需求吻合。你可以先清晰无误地列明你对该职位及其职责范围的理解,并且有信心能完成对方或是你未来老板的工作要求。


然后根据你所理解的职责范围(可以再三确认岗位的Job description),你可以在此针对性“促销”你的软技能soft skills (communication skills, personal skills etc.)和硬技能hard skills(技术软件操作能力、相关实践经历等等)。如同在面试中回答behavioral questions一样,在推销自己时可以举一个简短例子。

展现跟对方吻合的理念和价值观


大部分跨国企业,面试者非常多,而到了面试那关可能每个人拥有的软硬技能、经验也差不多,单凭简历上的信息是不够区分优秀人才。


但是,你可以透过展示你的理念、工作方式、你的价值观、你的独特经验等方面,真诚表达你已经在思考如何为公司所在招募中的团队提供你独有的价值。你可以利用在面试对话中发现的招聘官或是你未来老板的共同之处更深一步地沟通感情、建立rapport。共同之处可以是shared vision、philosophy、workstyle等等。


同时,如果对方(面试官)在面试中提及到他的工作成绩或事业成就,你可以在邮件里表示赞赏,证明你有认真听他的分享,这样的认可也可以让他对你留下一个好的印象。但记得要发自真诚,恰到好处。切忌说过头话。


让对方对你产生一种感情上的共鸣,这样可以使其在作招聘决定时选择你。

“挽救”面试中的不足表现


对自我感觉在面试中发挥不太理想的人来说,就更应该写好这个Thank-you email。这里指的表现不好,不是指你忘了带笑容,忘了跟对方握手的仪态上的个别问题,而是因为个人原因在整个面试中没有一个良好的状态。


如果你在面试中对于某个问题有不懂的回答或是回答有错误,你也可以在面试后寻查解答方法,然后简单提及一下你会如何解答面试中的一条问题。这样能在此展现你的积极性,展现你在工作场景中力求把被安排给你的任务完成好的一种态度。

邮件的格式及注意事项


  • 邮件标题写什么:Thank you for the [Job Title] position interview on [date]

  • 什么时候发:

    • 面试后的24-48小时

    • 如果你的面试在早上,你可以在当天的End of day之前发;

    • 如果你的面试在下午,你可以在第二天(business day)的早上发,确保对方可以上班第一时间看到,不过如果你的面试在周五下午,最好也是当天晚上就发出去,免得等到周一隔太久(有些Recruiter可能周末也会查看邮件)

  • 一定使用跟你简历上面同样的名字和邮箱去发,这样可以快速让对方辨识你是哪位应聘者

Good [morning/afternoon] [Name], 


Thank you for taking the time to speak with me this morning about the XXX position at ABC firm. It was a pleasure meeting with you, and I truly enjoyed learning more about the role and the company. After our conversation, I am confident that my skills and experiences are a great match for this opportunity. I am very enthusiastic about the possibility of joining your team and would greatly appreciate a follow-up as you move forward with the hiring process. 


If you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me by email or phone. 


Thanks again, and I hope to hear from you in the near future.

  • 如果你在面试中表现不足:

However, I am not sure my interest and enthusiasm for the job translated in our interview today. I have been feeling under the weather this week and dont think I was able to express my aptitude for the job.


I wanted to take the time to reassure you that I believe my sense of initiative, high level of motivation, and positive attitude make me a prime candidate for this position. Im not sure if that came across during the interview.


If you would like to arrange another time to meet, I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you again.
